Economic Differences

Description

The North was industrial while the South was agricultural .  If you recall, industry means factories and agriculture means farming. The South grew cotton and sent it to Northern factories where it was made into cloth.

The different economies led to a fierce debate over tariffs. The industrial North favored tariffs while the agricultural South opposed tariffs.
